Prince Peter Collection rocks up to aid Japan in disaster relief charity fashion sale
The devastation in Japan following the earthquake and tsunami disasters in March 2011 was truly horrifying, claiming over 15,000 deaths, with over 5000 injured and over 8000 people still missing. A staggering 4.4 million Japanese households were affected by the horrors and aftermath of the events. In a show of unity and sympathy, the world rallied around to donate money, energy and time to relief funds to help in any way it could, and New York based, edgy graphic tshirt designers Prince Peter Collection stood up to support a charity fashion sale in Shibuya, Tokyo.
The sale was hosted by BRAND NEWS K.K and located in the BRAND NEWS showroom on 22 nd April 2011. BRAND NEWS K.K. is the famed marketing and PR firm representing such brands in Japan as Derek Lam, and Jason Wu. The Prince Peter Collection pieces were hugely popular with shoppers snapping up the Love Child, What's New Pussycat, X Offender, The White Snake and Heal The World rock n' roll inspired tees and tanks.
The first day saw fantastic PPC sales of 79,000 JPY, and closed with 42 pieces sold at an amazing total of 128,500 JPY (approx. $1500!) which Prince Peter Collection are proud to say will be donated to the relief fund in full!
Along with Prince Peter Collection, other brands taking part were Sea New York and YAECA, a Japanese label whose factory was located on one of the worst hit areas.
The money raised has been donated to ASAHI Ltd and other companies that were located in an area of devastation famous for its fashion industry factories such as sewing, fabrics and printing, to aid in the swift recovery of their businesses.
BRAND NEWS K.K confirmed the sale as a success and thanked Prince Peter Collection and the other designers, for their involvement in helping to get an important part of Tokyo's fashion industry up and running once again.

Almost a year to the day since Prince Peter introduced his collection, and his exclusive collaboration with legendary rock n’ roll photographer, Mick Rock, to the fashion world, Prince Peter will unveil his Spring/ Summer 2011 through a recreation of Andy Warhol’s Factory in a private downtown Manhattan loft.
This time, the collection draws inspiration from an era when the City was both a muse and a canvas for artists and musicians to make their mark and create their own legacy on future jilted generations to come. The Factory meets Max’s Kansas City, celebrating all darlings of the underground and remembered in true rock n’ roll fashion.
Prince Peter’s unisex t-shirts are hand-made in the United States and appeal to both men and woman of all ages and demographics. The fabrics are airy and light, easy to tailor, layer and wear in all seasons. As Prince Peter has said, “the line is rock n’ roll t-shirts, plain and simple, and that’s good to have during this tough economy.”
Autumn/Winter 2010 Collection
February 15, 2010
New York, NY, February 2010 – Prince Peter Collection welcomes Fall/Winter 2010 by presenting a unique line inspired by the immensely popular and wildly successful 80’s New York City venues and after-hours clubs such as Danceteria, The Pyramid Club, The Mudd Club and The Palladuim. At the time, notable and emerging celebrities such as Madonna, Sade, Billy Idol, Duran Duran, artists Keith Haring and Jean-Michel Basquiat all frequented these venues. Prince Peter Collection, deemed “Virgin Spirit” is inspired by the style and music of the musicians and downtown artists of the era. Where punk and new wave denizens came together.
For this season, Prince Peter has invited his muse Jacob Dekat, to co-design several of the pieces in the collection. Every piece has also taken some inspiration from cult classic films of the rock n’ roll scene, such as Smithereens, Sid and Nancy, Desperately Seeking Susan, and Downtown 81. From Madonna’s infamous cropped jacket to the print classified ad in the film Desperately Seeking Susan. The collection is brimming with edgy playfulness but still rooted in the true punk aesthetic of last season’s collection still using some images by legendary photographer Mick Rock. Most if not all of the items in the collection are hand-made and unisex. “The fashion line this season is punk t-shirts, jackets, and the obvious accoutre- ments, and that’s good to have in a tough economy, wearable yet interesting and truly unique clothing”, says Prince Peter.

Together Prince Peter and Rock have taken 10 images from Rock N’ Roll history and decadence to create the Spring/ Summer 2010 collection, with particular pieces inspired by music greats David Bowie and Syd Barrett.
The collection was welcomed with huge amounts of praise at its LA debut, due mostly to its celebrity following, editorial appeal, and cutting-edge concepts. Celebrities in attendance at the October 20th presentation included: Dylan McDermott (actor), Chelsea Rodgers (muse of Prince), Evan Ross (actor ATL, son of Diana Ross), the cast of MTV Styled, DJ Wade (DJ and band member of Calypso), Michael Sutton (nightclub owner).
